Graphene has long-held notions of grandeur over its current silicon overlord, but a few practical issues have always kept its takeover bid grounded. Samsung, however, thinks it’s cracked at least one of those — graphene’s inability to switch off current. Previous attempts to use graphene as a transistor have involved converting it to a semi-conductor, but this also reduces its electron mobility, negating much of the benefit. Samsung’s Advanced Institute of Technology has created a graphene-silicon “Schottky barrier” that brings graphene this much-needed current-killing ability, without losing its electron-shuffling potential. The research also explored potential logic device applications based on the same technology. So, does this mean we’ll finally get our flea-sized super computer implant? Maybe, not just yet, but the wheels have certainly been oiled.

Rap duo put their signature sexy stamp on the Believe track.
By Jocelyn Vena
<P>When <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> dropped his single "Boyfriend" last month, some music connoisseurs compared the track to the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/ying_yang_twins/artist.jhtml">Ying Yang Twins</a>' 2005 hit "Wait (The Whisper Song)." The song's tempo and production, Bieber's lyrical delivery, and the general whispery, low-key vibe of the track are reminiscent of the Twins' track.</P><P>Well, the Ying Yang Twins returned the favor on Wednesday by <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/yingyangtwins" target="_blank">dropping their remix</a> of the song. The track opens with the Twins proclaiming, "Ying Yang and Justin Bieber, oh!" and from there, they spit some sexy lines about whisking a girl off her feet.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Boyfriend' Shows Off Justin Bieber's 'New Fresh Sound'" id="vid:765693" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"I don't wanna be your boyfriend, I wanna be your man/ He a little-bitty boy, I'm a grown man/ I can take you overseas, a harmless breeze/ Then you and me can have sex on the beach/ I bet you ain't never met someone like me/ I'm the broom, you the dust pan/ Sweep you off your feet/ You can be my woman, I can be your man/ If you got a little sister, Justin Bieber want to be her boyfriend," the Twins rap before Bieber's version comes back in.</P><P>The guys pick it up one more time, making a similar testament about their grown-man prowess. However, what they want to offer their lyrical love interest doesn't seem to differ much from what Bieber's offering, with a big emphasis on traveling around the world … though without the fondue and Buzz Lightyear references.</P><P>Produced by Mike Posner and Mason Levy, "Boyfriend" is the lead single off Bieber's June 19 album release, <a href="/news/articles/1684079/justin-bieber-believe-album-cover.jhtml"><i>Believe</a>.</i> Last Thursday he dropped the <a href="/news/articles/1684646/justin-bieber-boyfriend-video-2.jhtml">video</a> for the track, which mimics the song's more mature vibe and features him snuggling with a love interest and showing off some cool dance moves.</P><P>"Why did I choose 'Boyfriend'? I just thought it was like, of all the songs I had at that time, it was the song that most repped me at the time and [that] I wanted to put out there and what I wanted people to hear and the type of new fresh sound that I wanted to hear," Bieber told MTV News. "I thought that that was a perfect first single to come out with."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Wanted 'Boyfriend' Video To Be 'Mature'" id="vid:765691" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>

Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Birdman and DJ Khaled are along for the ride in celebratory clip.
By Kara Warner
<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/drake/artist.jhtml">Drake</a> certainly isn't holding back in releasing his new music videos! Minutes before the MTV premiere of the highly anticipated, Rihanna-featuring <a href="/news/articles/1682678/drake-rihanna-take-care-music-video.jhtml">video for "Take Care,"</a> Drake debuted the Lil Wayne-assisted video for "HYFR" on his <a href="http://octobersveryown.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> October's Very Own</a> blog.</P><P>As we saw via a few photos from the set recently, the video is a <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/03/23/drake-hyfr-video-recreates-bar-mitzvah/">re-creation of Drizzy's Bar Mitzvah</a>.</P><P>The clip opens with footage of a very young Aubrey "Drake" Graham at a friend or relative's Bar Mitzvah years ago. Little Drake says "mazel tov" to camera, and then we cut to the video's introduction, which is printed in white lettering over a black background. "On October 24th 2011 Aubrey 'Drake' Graham chose to get re-Bar Mitzvah'd as a re-commitment to the Jewish religion."</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:721311/cp~vid%3D721311%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A721311" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>We see another few seconds from the archive footage, in which little Drake is busting some moves on the dance floor, looking totally comfortable performing to the camera, before we hear the opening of "HYFR" and cut to Drake dressed to the nines in his freshest bar mitzvah formalwear standing in front of a group of what appear to be his childhood friends — including longtime producer Noah "40" Shebib.</P><P>The video takes place in three different settings: The first is the opening shot outside the temple, the Bar Mitzvah ceremony inside the temple and the reception after the ceremony. Over the course of the nearly four-minute clip, we watch Drizzy chillin' with his homies all civilized-like, then we see him going through the motions of the Mitzvah, reciting scripture inside the temple with a rabbi, and then we watch everyone wildin' out at the reception with drinks, dancing and talking to ladies. Decorations and cakes are smashed, and Weezy — who is first shown fully clothed, wearing a panda hat/mask — eventually strips down to just his pants. There are also playful assists/cameos made by Trey Songz, Birdman and DJ Khaled.</P><P>Where "Take Care" has a more voyeuristic, contemporary-art feel, "HYFR" is just one big party that we're all invited to watch.</P><P><i>Which Drake video do you like best? If Apple changes to a 4-inch screen in the next iPhone (iPhone 5,1), how could they do it while minimizing impact on users and developers? Assuming everyone wants a bigger screen, how does Apple implement it without breaking existing applications, causing backwards compatibility problems, and otherwise fragmenting the platform and frustrating stakeholders? Let’s try to figure that out.

Despite early talk, singer did not appear in any of episode’s skits.
By James Dinh
<P>Marking her third appearance on "Saturday Night Live," <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> proved that the third time's a charm when the pop titan took over the Studio 8H stage on Saturday for a pair of eye-popping performance sets during the <a href="/news/articles/1683217/rihanna-saturday-night-live-eli-manning.jhtml">Eli Manning-hosted episode</a>.</P><P>Standing before an oversized crystallized spider web in the middle of the black-lit stage, Rihanna began her first number with the buzzing sounds of "Birthday Cake." It was a surprising song selection that momentarily suggested the possibility of an onstage reunion with birthday boy Chris Brown, but "Cake" ended quickly, instead leading into a medley of her tune "Talk That Talk."</P><P>" 'SNL,' put your hands together like this," she told the crowd.</P><P>With her backup dancers on hand, Rih kept the performance straightforward, offering viewers some simple shakes, pelvis thrusts and plenty of swag. One complaint was with the echo effect that was added to her microphone, which made the singer's vocal sound shaky at times.</P><P><object width="415" height="233"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/FfqWayiq_es1m3aXgrHTYg"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/FfqWayiq_es1m3aXgrHTYg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="415" height="233" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object></P><P>However, any issues with the opening number were soon forgotten when the pop star took to the stage for her follow-up performance of her brand-new single, "Where Have You Been." Fronting an Arabian-themed backdrop and human props, Rihanna threw on a fierce game face and danced her way through the track with steady energy. It was a welcome change to see the Barbadian singer show off some footwork.</P><P>Unfortunately, the episode ended without any mention of "Shy Ronnie," her first digital short, or any Rihanna-featured skits at all, even though "SNL" head honcho Lorne Michaels had told reporters on Wednesday that he was trying to work out the details on <a href="/news/articles/1684353/rihanna-snl-skit.jhtml">incorporating Rihanna</a> into the sketch lineup.</P><P>Shy Ronnie may have not made an appearance, but Saturday's gig was the perfect vehicle to promote her just-released single as well as her big-screen acting debut in the <a href="/news/articles/1684206/battleship-rihanna-role.jhtml">summer flick "Battleship,"</a> which hits theaters May 18.</P><P><i>What did you think of Rih's "SNL" performances? Let us know in the comments below.</i></p>

Duo attempts to take down the alien invaders in this action-packed look at the Hasbro film.
By Fallon Prinzivalli
<P>Did you see it? Did you catch it in all its epic glory? As part of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/763731/mtv-first-battleship.jhtml#id=1683987">"MTV First: Battleship,"</a> the A-list cast — featuring <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/448882/personmain.jhtml">Taylor Kitsch</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/448882/personmain.jhtml">Alexander Skarsgård</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/442940/personmain.jhtml">Rihanna</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/1122354/personmain.jhtml">Brooklyn Decker</a> — premiered a <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/764594/exclusive-battleship-clip-light-it-up.jhtml#id=1683987">never-before-seen clip</a> Monday night (April 30) from the film.</P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:764594/cp~vid%3D764594%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A764594" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center></P><P>The exclusive scene opens with an injured Commander Stone Hopper (Skarsgård) looking a little worried as his brother, Lt. Alex Hopper (Kitsch), takes a tiny boat of troops out on the water to get up close and personal with the sea invaders. We have no naval experience and even <i>we</i> know this can't be a good idea. But the officers prove to be some fearless competition for the machines as Kitsch screams to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/442940/personmain.jhtml">Rihanna</a>, "Light it up!" And as promised, the <i>Talk That Talk</i> singer gets fierce as she aggressively fires away at the aliens.</P><P>As one of Stone's officers reports that "both spy and fire-control radar cannot lock on" to the foreign predators, Stone orders the crew to fire anyway and Alex narrowly avoids a bomb that comes flying at his head. The war zone continues as Stone's ship keeps trying to fight off incoming missiles. The clip captures the mayhem that is sure to be the Hasbro film adaptation.</P><P>From what we've seen so far, it seems that when <a href="/news/articles/1672135/taylor-kitsch-battleship-action.jhtml">Kitsch promised "huge" action</a> when we spoke to him last fall, he meant it.</P><P>"You don't know what to expect with 'Battleship,' especially when we team up, [director Peter Berg] and I, you're going to get a lot of laughs, guaranteed," he said. "And, of course, the action is going to speak for itself. It's huge."</P><P>But this clip — taking place in the middle of the heated battle — does not include any laughs. As Stone attempts to aid his brother's offensive attacks and remain on the defensive to protect his crew, his ship gets hit and the bomb goes off. What happens next is an intense explosion that knocks the officers away from the bomb, sucks them back in and tosses them away again. Did we mention they're suspended in the air the whole time as debris and heavy objects fly all around them? Things do not look good for the naval crew right now.</P><P>Audiences will be able to see if the fleet of ships prevails when "Battleship" hits theaters May 18.</P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:763731/cp~vid%3D763731%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A763731" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center></P><P><b>Check out everything we've got on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/454504/moviemain.jhtml">"Battleship."</a></P><P>For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit <a href="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/">MTVMoviesBlog.com</a>.</b></p>

Verizon has plans to kill the current unlimited data add-on and force users to a shared pool of tiered data. Speaking at today's 40th annual J.P. Morgan Technology, Media, and Telecom conference, Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo stated that all customers will be migrated off of current unlimited data plans and on to a new data-share plan to launch this summer. "Everyone will be on data share", according to Shammo. As people renew contracts and move to new 4G LTE smartphones and other devices, their current data plan will no longer be available. There was no mention what would happen to current LTE subscribers, but we imagine they too will be pushed towards the new sharing plans.
There is no word on exactly how these plans will work, only that all 4G connected devices on Verizon will share the same data pool. We don't yet know how big that data pool will be, nor how much it will cost. Hopefully, Verizon realizes that they are pushing customers to use more and more data and makes them generous.
Of course, Shammo says this will be a better option for everyone involved, but I've a feeling that more than a few of you will disagree. To see the webcast in it's entirety, see the link below.

Electric Imp Raises $7.9M From Redpoint & Lowercase Capital To Power The Internet of Things
Yazan :
One trend we’ve been tracking is the “Internet of Things” — the idea that at some point, all devices will be intelligent and connected, allowing for things like whole home automation. The problem is that most new systems equipped to connect to the Internet are reliant on proprietary software and hardware usually tacked on by the vendor. So whatever devices do come to market Internet-ready tend to be overly expensive, and don’t play well with others. That’s where Electric Imp comes in. The startup was founded on the premise of decoupling all the connectivity and intelligence for these connected systems from the devices themselves, and instead, letting those applications be powered by a tiny chip, lovingly called an “Imp.”

<P>Only a few more days until the year's biggest aliens-at-sea adventure movie <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/435857/moviemain.jhtml">"Battleship"</a> sails into theaters. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s ‘Dark Shadows’ debuts at a distant #2.
By Ryan J. Downey
Chris Hemsworth in “Avengers”

The Avengers isn’t the only club to count Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the rest of the crew as members. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes joined the $1 billion club over the weekend, shattering more box-office records and collecting enough cash to put it just behind “Alice in Wonderland” on the all-time worldwide gross list. “Dark Shadows,” Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton’s first collaboration since “Alice,” settled for a distant #2 debut.
“The Avengers” reached the $1 billion mark as quickly as “Avatar” and the last “Harry Potter” movie, despite opening earlier overseas than in America. Marvel’s action-packed tentpole (which unites several of their heroes) already broke the all-time opening weekend record when it opened last weekend, and with its $103.2 million estimated domestic gross this weekend, “The Avengers” is now the record holder for the biggest second-weekend number too. Thanks to its $628.9 million 19-day international haul, “The Avengers” is now one of only 11 movies to climb past the $1 billion mark worldwide.
Marvel’s first movie under the Disney umbrella benefited from its comic book origins, repeat viewings, a positively reviewed story from director/co-writer Joss Whedon and the combined star power of folks like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson. Truthfully, “Dark Shadows” never stood a chance. The eighth collaboration between Depp and Burton — a campy take on a decades-old low-budget vampire soap opera — made $28.8 million domestically during its first weekend in theaters. By comparison, Depp and Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” opened with $116.1 million two years ago.
“Think Like a Man,” which previously enjoyed two weekends atop the box office prior to the arrival of “The Avengers,” was #3 over the weekend with $6.3 million. Based on the self-help book from comedian Steve Harvey, “Think” has earned $81.9 million against a reported budget of just $12 million. “The Hunger Games” was #4 with $4.4 million, for a domestic total of $386.9 million. “The Lucky One” was #5 with $4.1 million for a $53.7 million total.
Fox Searchlight’s “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” did well with a modest expansion in theater counts, generating a healthy $2.7 million in 178 locations. “Girl in Progress” debuted with $1.4 million in 322 locations. Oscar winner “The Artist” went through one more expansion, in an apparent attempt to cash in on the Mother’s Day holiday, but failed to generate new buzz with a paltry $214 per screen average.
Next weekend, Sacha Baron Cohen will go up against “The Avengers” in his role as a fictitious world leader in “The Dictator.” The big-budget action flick “Battleship” will also arrive as well as a bit of counter-programming in the form of “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” featuring an ensemble that includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks and Anna Kendrick.
Check out everything we’ve got on “Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Dark Shadows” and “The Hunger Games.”

‘I wanted to make sure I got Wayne on something that was heartfelt,’ Mac tells MTV News of Macadelic standout.

But Mac's recent <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lil_wayne/artist.jhtml">Lil Wayne</a> collaboration "The Question" already ranks right up there for him.</P><P>"This is one of my favorite records that I've ever done," Mac told MTV News of the <a href="/news/articles/1681731/mac-miller-macadelic-mixtape.jhtml"><i>Macadelic</i></a> standout.</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:752967/cp~vid%3D752967%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A752967" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>Miller surprised fans when he released <i>Macadelic</i> last week. It wasn't the quality of songs that stood out — Mac's fans have come to expect the best from the Pittsburgh MC — instead it was <i>Macadelic</i>'s features that stood out to many. With a guest list that includes Kendrick Lamar, Sir Michael Rocks, Casey Veggies, Juicy J and Cam'ron, it was Weezy's multiplatinum name that made folks do a double-take.</P><P>Getting <a href="/music/artist/lil_wayne/artist.jhtml">Weezy</a> on your mixtape is a no-brainer for any MC with enough clout to pull it off, but Miller didn't want to get the Young Money boss on just any old track. The 20-year old MC then goes on to ponder his place in the world over a slow-rolling track produced by Wally West and ID Labs.</P><P>"I feel like in a lot of people's lives, at a certain point, you kind of just look in the mirror and try and think about who I am as a person and what am I supposed to do here, what am I doin' with my time," he explained.</P><P>Often, Mac is criticized for releasing strictly party records, but on "The Question" he adds some depth to his catalog. Weezy, however, took a different approach, opening his rhyme while sitting in his Bentley, thinking about the plethora of women he has at his disposal. From there, Tunechi goes on about his machine gun, which he claims to treat like an infant, and, of course, his smoke. It's classic Weezy.</P><P>"Wayne came in and just killed the verse on the song," Mac exclaimed. "It was perfect to hear him like that."</P><P><i>What do you think of Mac Miller and Lil Wayne's "The Question"? Tell us in the comments!</i></p>

Don’t let that headline fool you: although Lenovo technically just unveiled one product, the ThinkStation E31 workstation, it actually shoehorned two distinct machines into one press release. Behold: a budget workstation available as a conventionally sized tower, as well as compact one. Whichever you choose, both support up to 32GB of RAM and are available with either an Intel Xeon E3-1200 CPU or a range of Ivy Bridge processors. Regardless of the size, you’ll get nine USB ports, including four of the 3.0 variety. And, in addition to Windows 7 / XP, they’re Windows 8-ready, and can run Red Hat as well.
It’s at this juncture, though, that the specs start to diverge, with the heftier machine naturally offering more expandability. The full-size tower, for instance, can accommodate up to three HDDs, or 9TB of hard drive storage, while the smaller number makes room for two HDDs, or 6TB of space. (Either way, you can opt for solid-state drives.) On the graphics front, both will be offered with Intel’s HD P4000 solution, but the upgrade options once again differ: expect a max offering of NVIDIA Quadro Q4000 graphics on the tower, and Quadro Q600 on the smaller guy. Intrigued? Both systems will start at $629, with the fuller-sized tower arriving on June 5th and the compact model following on June 13th.

Yet more fallout in the case of Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn’s sudden resignation last month. Some more light has been shed on those aforementioned “certain issues” we heard about, and now an internal investigation has led to the exit of the big box retailer’s founder Richard Schulze as chairman of the board. Schulze will be replaced by Hatim Tyabji, who has served as the CEO of Bytemobile and as chairman of the Best Buy’s audit committee. The transfer will occur after the company’s annual meeting on June 21, 2012. Tyabji had the following to say about Schulze’s tenure with the company,
Dick’s leadership and vision changed the landscape of American retail, and he will forever be remembered as an iconic entrepreneur. We join Best Buy’s 167,000 employees in thanking him.
More details on Schulze’s exit can be found in an official Best Buy statement after the break.

Marvel Studios tentpole flick provides the perfect template for DC Comics to emulate in their post-’Dark Knight’ movie endeavors.
By Josh Wigler

Photo: Marvel
“The Dark Knight Rises” marks the end of an era on multiple levels: Not only is it the grand finale of Christopher Nolan’s historic Batman film franchise, it’s also the last DC Entertainment movie that’s guaranteed to be a hit.
Sure, “Man of Steel” is just one year away, but what’s to say that it’ll fare better than “Superman Returns,” which earned a mere $200 million domestically? And even though a sequel is reportedly in development, “Green Lantern” didn’t exactly dazzle with its $116 million performance. Let’s face it: Without the box-office behemoth known as the “Dark Knight” trilogy in its back pocket, DC’s film future is uncertain at best.
Of course, it doesn’t have to be that way. Some of the greatest and most iconic characters in comic book history reside under the DC banner. And if there was any doubt that superheroes have box-office appeal, look no further than “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which is breaking records and winning over new fans with every passing day. There’s much to be learned from the House of Ideas’ approach to building a superhero universe on the big screen — and even though they’re on opposite sides of the aisle, and even if it’s a little bit late in the game, DC would be wise to utilize Marvel’s movie strategy … albeit with some tweaks.
Sting Away
“I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers initiative,” Nick Fury told Tony Stark at the end of 2008′s “Iron Man,” giving life to a shared Marvel movie-verse in one simple line of dialogue. Marvel is the master of using the post-credits stinger as a way to thread its movies together: “Iron Man 2″ teasing Thor’s hammer, the ending of “Thor” introducing the Cosmic Cube ahead of “Captain America,” the list goes on. DC’s earliest opportunity to apply the same idea is “Dark Knight Rises,” but as the conclusion of a finite trilogy, it doesn’t feel like the right place to get that particular ball rolling. They’d be wise to wait until “Man of Steel” flies into theaters in June 2013, ending Kal-el’s big-screen comeback with an overt nod toward an expansive cinematic DCU to come.
The World’s Finest
A “Man of Steel” stinger doesn’t have to set up “Justice League,” even if that’s the obvious route. It would be just as easy, and perhaps even wiser, to allude to the existence of Batman in the new Superman’s world. Nolan’s trilogy will be long gone by the time “Man of Steel” drops, and the world will be ready for another trip to Gotham City. But rather than fast-tracking a solo Batman adventure that has to live up to Nolan levels of hype, why not skip straight ahead to the long-anticipated “Superman/Batman” movie? The double-billing of Henry Cavill’s Man of Tomorrow and a new Caped Crusader would quickly gratify fans yearning for more Batman and Superman movies, as well as mark a major milestone in the creation of a shared DC universe without having to rush “Justice League” before it’s ready.
Back in a Flash
“Superman/Batman” is the quick response to “Avengers”; a movie that can get off the ground by late 2014 or early 2015. It would be much more challenging to create a worthy “Justice League” movie in that time frame. More characters need to be established first: “The Flash,” for example, is an easy yes for DC. “Green Lantern” sequels aren’t as much of a necessity; a “Justice League” movie could always push Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan out of the picture in favor of another Lantern, like John Stewart or Kyle Rayner, introduced perhaps by way of a post-credits “Flash” scene. “Aquaman” and “Wonder Woman” movies would be nice as well, but the former is a hard sell, while the latter … well, let’s talk about the latter.
Hold the Wonder
I want a “Wonder Woman” movie as badly as anybody, but maybe it’s best to hold off until after “Justice League.” The reason: Hulk syndrome. Like Wonder Woman, Hulk has been a tricky character to pull off in live-action. But if there’s anything “Avengers” nailed perfectly, it’s “the Other Guy,” a hero that few got right before Joss Whedon and Mark Ruffalo came along. Surrounding him with other heroes gave him innumerable opportunities to shine, and now people want to see him alone in his own “Hulk” movie again. I foresee a similar situation with Wonder Woman: Any all-star “Justice League” movie would prove to the uninitiated just how big of a badass Wonder Woman really is, all but guaranteeing the demand for a post-”Justice” solo flick, Jade Giant-style.
Hire Joss Whedon
Just kidding … mostly. Above all else, the reason why “Avengers” works is because someone who knows, respects and cares about the characters was guiding the film. If DC decides to walk the road to “Justice League,” they need someone with Whedon levels of passion and knowledge, someone who can bring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the others together with the love and care they deserve.
They could also just try hiring Joss Whedon. Worked out pretty well for Marvel!
How do you think DC should respond to “The Avengers”? Tell us in the comments section.

Phones, watches, TVs and in-car entertainment. Android has been put to work in many corners of our technological world. Now, it’s reached another, less expected one — mirrors. The Verge spotted itself the Smart Wash Basin prototype at Smartphone and Mobile Expo, and took a good look into it. The heavy lifting is done by a hidden Android tablet, and the reflective display is actually a separate monitor with a semitransparent piece of reflective glass. If you’re thinking “smudges,” hang fire, as RF proximity sensors are used, so you interact with it without smearing your paws across the shiny surface. The show prototype had water monitoring functions, and was coupled up to a set of scales in the floor. The manufacturer hopes one of the uses for the invention could be reading the news at the hairdresser. What we want to know is, when did salons suddenly go all futuristico?

For an upgrade with a fairly underwhelming number like 0.8.3 attached, the latest version of the Spotify desktop client brings the goods. First up is much requested the ability to create radio stations based on playlists or albums, with the click of a button (that would be the Start Playlist Radio or Start Album Radio button, for the record), generating a queue of similar music. A new boost to search brings up music in the main view when you hover over it in search results, while embeddable HTML codes have been added to right click functionality. The service has also added Tumblr posting to the game. The update is rolling out today for Windows and Mac users. More info in the source link below.

Here we see an image of what is claimed to be the Samsung SPH-L300 which, based on its product code, appears to be destined for Sprint in the near future and the folks over at BriefMobile got the first look at this rumored device. If it hadn't already struck you as looking familiar with it's big silver chin, the HTC Nexus One comes to mind for us but the internals are a definite departure from that original Nexus phone.
Rumored to sport a Qualcomm MSM8960 processor (the Snapdragon S4 chip) which is the same unit as in the LTE enabled HTC One X and Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE, this phone should pack quite the punch should it come to fruition. Other features and specs this device is reported to have include 1 GB of RAM along with 4 GB of ROM, 4G LTE, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.0 all underneath Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, the display resolution is quite disappointing at only 480×800. With all that hardware inside, we'd hope to see a 720p resolution display or at least a qHD display, but keep in mind this is still an unconfirmed device and that means things are subject to change. We'll bring you more info on this as it rolls in.

‘I was walking into this as a complete amateur,’ singer reveals in ‘MTV First: Battleship.’
By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
<P>As <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> begins her foray into the film industry, she's quickly becoming the queen of pop culture. European Union countries already had a data roaming cutoff law in place to prevent bill shock after your next Balearic vacation, but the price of the data in question should get much cheaper very soon. The European Parliament has just voted 578 to 10 to cap the price customers pay at no more than 70 Euro cents (91 US cents) per megabyte starting from July 1st, with that price eventually dipping to 45 Euro cents (58c US) a year later and just 20 Euro cents (26 US cents) in 2014. Voice and text price caps are going down to as little as 19 and nine Euro cents (25 and 12 cents US) in that two-year span, and if you’re visiting from outside the EU, you’ll be glad to hear that the anti-bill shock rule will apply to you this year as well. So, while you still might want to avoid uploading large videos from your phone while in Spain, you’ll at least have the option of checking in on Foursquare without having to take out a small mortgage.

If you've been holding out for AT&T to release the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD you can now give up the dream and move onto the Samsung Galaxy S III. As confirmed by Samsung's Ryan Bidan, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD has been put to rest on AT&T due to the fact that it just doesn't make sense to release the device now that the Samsung Galaxy S III is out there.
Although Bidan stopped short of confirming that AT&T would see a release of the Samsung Galaxy S III, at this point it's pretty much assumed or in Bidan's words it'll be coming to "the fastest HSPA+ and LTE networks" in the country. That doesn't leave a whole lot of options and surely, AT&T will want to fill that gap.

Pop-star-turned-actress and her ‘Battleship’ co-stars premiere exclusive clip tonight at 7:56 p.m. on MTV, followed by a 30-minute interview on MTV.com.
By Josh Horowitz
<P>If there is a downside to what I do (talk to very talented, beautiful people), it's that sometimes you're sitting in between <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a>, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgård and you realize, wow, I must look like Golem next to them. But let's not harp on my insecurities. Let's instead focus on that genetically blessed quartet who star in the new film <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/435857/moviemain.jhtml">"Battleship,"</a> opening May 18. I'm pleased to report that they're a great bunch and absurdly entertaining to talk to.</P><P>You can catch my full interview with the gang on MTV.com following the premiere of an exclusive action scene from the film during <a href="/news/articles/1683896/battleship-mtv-first.jhtml">"MTV First: Battleship"</a> tonight beginning at 7:56 p.m. on MTV. Having already seen "Battleship," I can tell you this clip really captures the mayhem in this blockbuster.</P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:764468/cp~vid%3D764468%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A764468" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center></P><P>Anyway, what did I learn in my chat with this group? Well, no matter how freakishly gorgeous you might be, the grass is always greener on the other side. Rihanna revealed she'd like Brooklyn's boobs (her words, not mine), and Brooklyn retorted that she's envious of Rihanna's um … well, her ass. As I said at the time, this was the best debate ever.</P><P>Movies don't come much bigger than "Battleship." Clearly if you have a "Transformers" itch for spectacle, this is the summer for you. But if there's a side story worth talking about amid the 'splosions, clearly it's Rihanna. I spent a good portion of the sit-down with the cast talking to the pop-star-turned-actor and was duly impressed. Humble, self-effacing and quick to joke, count me in the Rihanna fan club from here on out. She's got the right attitude and knows she has plenty to prove as she makes the move into acting ("Battleship" is her debut).</P><P>And if you're not rooting for Taylor Kitsch, you are hereby my enemy. "John Carter" took a lot of knocks (most undeserved in my opinion), but this guy takes his gigs seriously (even if the films don't look all that serious) from a distance.</P><P>I know what you're thinking. They're all gorgeous <i>and</i> awesome? Annoying, right?</P><P>Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker will hit MTV's airwaves Monday, April 30, at 7:56 p.m. ET to premiere the exclusive clip, after which they will stick around for a meaty 30 minutes of Q&A on MTV.com.</P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:677671/cp~vid%3D677671%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A677671" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center></P><P><b>Check out everything we've got on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/435857/moviemain.jhtml">"Battleship."</a></P><P>For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit <a href="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/">MTVMoviesBlog.com</a>.</b></p>

‘I think he’s going to do great,’ Banks tells MTV News of Francis Lawrence.

Although “The Hunger Games” has been out in theaters for well over a month now, the $600 million behemoth is still making headlines via box-office records, a director change-up and casting speculation — not to mention the fact that the crowd-pleaser is set to make a fine showing at our 2012 MTV Movie Awards with its eight nominations.
When MTV News caught up with castmember Elizabeth Banks recently as she promoted her latest movie, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” we asked for an update on the “Catching Fire” casting rumors, as well as her thoughts on new director Francis Lawrence. More specifically, though, is there room in “Fire” for her “Expecting” husband Ben Falcone (of “Bridesmaids” fame)?
“Yes, he’s Finnick,” Effie Trinket herself joked. “I’m here to announce that he’s replacing President Snow.”
“Right,” agreed Falcone. “Yes.”
“You are the new president of the Capitol,” she informed her co-star.
“Yes. No thanks, Donald Sutherland,” Falcone joked of the actual President Snow.
Getting serious for a second, we then asked Banks what she thinks of Lawrence taking over directorial duties on the film’s sequel, “Catching Fire.”
“[I'm] very excited. I mean, I can’t wait,” Banks said. “I haven’t met him, but we’ll see. I think he’s going to do great.”
Banks’ fellow “Hunger Games” co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have also weighed in on their new director, echoing Banks’ excitement.
“Francis is extremely talented, and everyone I’ve talked to says he’s the best guy in the world,” Hutcherson said. “So I think he’s going to bring a lot.”
Check out everything we’ve got on “Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

‘The costumes were more damaging than the actual fight sequences,’ actress says during ‘MTV First,’ tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV.

Of all the things to be psyched to see in Kristen Stewart’s upcoming action adventure “Snow White and the Huntsman,” we are most enthused about the A-list girl-on-girl action that is Stewart’s Snow White vs. Charlize Theron‘s Evil Queen Ravenna.
With just a few more hours to wait until “MTV First: Snow White and the Huntsman,” starting tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV, here’s a little sneak peek of Theron talking about those highly anticipated fight sequences and the surprising culprit responsible for her on-set bruises.
“The costumes were more damaging than the actual fight sequences,” Theron revealed. “I was way more bruised from my costume than I was from [fighting with Stewart]. Doing a fight sequence in your sweatpants is different than wearing an 80-pound steel thing. I don’t know, you were in leather,” she said to her co-star Chris Hemsworth. “It’s different. [Stewart] was in full metal, I was in full metal, just getting down, it took us four hours,” she said, speaking of the complex setting involved in filming her showdown with Stewart.
The “Young Adult” actress has been reluctant to divulge any gory details about their climactic fight scenes, but she did offer up some praise for the “Twilight” star.
“She was a good fight,” Theron said. The bitch brought it!”
Speaking of those precarious costumes, the film’s Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood recently told us that despite the metal confinements, Theron knew how to work it in her dark and dangerous-looking wardrobe.
“You can’t design for [Queen] Ravenna without having Charlize to work the costume. We had a great time,” Atwood said. “She wanted to have fun with it and not be too strapped into the cliché of an evil queen. She wanted to be a person too and later becomes sort of mad.
“The [costumes] get more and more spectral and bug-like as the movie progresses,” Atwood continued. “There are a lot of elements of death in her costume, so we used lots of feathers, skulls, small bones. The fun of the design was doing the film equivalent of a couture costume, couture dress,” she said.
Don’t miss “MTV First: Snow White and the Huntsman” tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a Q&A with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin on MTV.com!

Samsung announced a slew of new features on the Galaxy S III at yesterday's Unpacked event in London, and one of the most interesting was "S Beam", a new file transfer capability based around NFC and Wifi Direct. Similar to ICS's Android Beam feature, you start by finding a file, photo or video in one of the built-in applications, then tap the screen to start the transfer. The phones are then instantly paired, and a Wifi Direct connection is established between them to handle all the heavy lifting. Because the Galaxy S III supports Wifi channel bonding, files can be transferred at up to 300Mbps, though that's dependent on how much interference there is in the area.
As you'll see in our video demo, it seems to work pretty well. See for yourself after the break.

Robert Pattinson, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling are fan favorites to play the dark and mysterious character in E L James’ novel.

People just can’t stop talking about “Fifty Shades of Grey.” E L James has set the literary world on fire with as erotic novel that explores the relationship between a dark and mysterious guy named Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, an innocent college graduate.
The guilty-pleasure book features characters that James created in her “Twilight” fan fiction, and it’s now being made into a feature film. That, of course, has had Hollywood buzzing with casting rumors about who could play the role of Christian Grey.
Fans of the trilogy already have strong opinions about the part, so MTV News caught up with some experts for their take.
“Christian definitely needs to be clean-cut, but extremely sexy when disheveled,” Alison Genet of Twifans.com told MTV News. “I wouldn’t choose a man that is overly chiseled. No juicehead gorillas need apply. Hair that can be neatly brushed, but when playing, it’s loose and wild like Johnny Depp hair. Not super short.”
Of course, the physical look of the actor has to fit, but Christian is also a complex individual, and most fans want an actor who can pull off all his many dimensions.
“I just think that the actor needs to be able to portray being so intense,” Mags Vazquez from , “But also showing that vulnerability that he has in reality.”
Casting rumors for the part of Christian have been heating up as of late, with names like “Twilight’s” own Robert Pattinson coming up. So, do fans want to see Pattinson make the transition from Edward Cullen to Christian Grey?
“There’s the side that first fell in love with the characters as part of ‘Twilight’ fan fiction and can only see Robert Pattinson as Christian and/or Kristen Stewart as Ana,” Lisa Parker from FiftyShadesFilm.com explained. “Would we be disappointed if he/she/they were cast? Absolutely not.”
Others disagree, however. “In regards to Robert Pattinson, I would like to see them move away from ‘Twilight’ so it can get its own identity,” Crissy Maier of Laters, Baby! said.
Well, if Pattinson doesn’t land the role, there’s a chance another vampire could step in: “Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder.
“I think Ian seems like a good fit visually, I haven’t watched ‘Vampire Diaries,’ but what I hear about his acting skills there, I’m hearing good things,” Maier said.
Parker agreed, revealing that her readers have been backing Somerhalder since he expressed interest in the role during an interview with Ryan Seacrest.
“We’re excited to see actors step up and say they would be interested in playing the leading man,” Parker said, adding, “With Ian Somerhalder being the first and a popular candidate judging from our Twitter timeline.”
These super fans have suggestions of their own though, ranging from Matt Bomer to “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill. Not surprisingly, Ryan Gosling is also a favorite.
“We are fans of the love story too, so we know exactly what qualities ‘FSOG’ fans see in different actors and actresses that make them appealing for the roles,” Parker said. “Have you seen the Dunhill London ads featuring Henry Cavill? Do they not scream ‘Fifty’? Have you seen Ryan Gosling’s GQ photo shoot? Grey silk tie anyone?”
Genet of Twifanscom agreed, saying Gosling’s undeniable charm could make him the perfect Christian Grey: “Ryan Gosling, Ryan Gosling, and Ryan Gosling. Imaging him in jeans hung low on the hip.”
“The one thing we know for sure is that with E L James as a collaborative partner in the casting process, we are confident that she will do what’s in the best interest of her famously loved characters.” Parker said.
Who do you think should play Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie? Let us know in the comments!

Like live wallpapers? You'll find a couple of interesting new ones pre-loaded on the Samsung Galaxy S III, and we shot some video of them during our recent time with the phone. In addition to the standard ICS live wallpapers like "Bubbles" and "Phase beam", the Galaxy S III features a re-vamped version of Samsung's "Deep Sea" animation, and a new one called "Luminous Dots," which is a bit more subtle. We should also mention that there's no slowdown when you're using a live wallpaper on the S III. The launcher handles all the background animations without breaking a sweat, which is impressive when you consider that many Android phones continue to struggle with live wallpapers.
Or if you prefer the static kind of background, the Galaxy S III's got those too. Check past the break for a quick video demo of both.

CERN scientists explain what would happen if you put your hand in the LHC’s beam (video)
Yazan :Sure, concerns about the Large Hadron Collider creating a world-destroying black hole may have been more or less put to rest, but there’s still plenty of pressing questions that remain unanswered. Like, what would happen if you put your hand in the beam? The folks from Sixty Symbols recently asked some physicists that very question and got some rather puzzled responses, so they went straight to CERN itself to get a definitive answer. You can see that in full after the break, but the short version is that it’s something like the force of a moving aircraft carrier concentrated down to a laser-like one-millimeter-wide beam (accompanied by a wider beam of particles that would irradiate your entire body). Bad news. As they’re quick to point out, though, actually getting anywhere near the beam is virtually impossible.
